Comedy Club History

The Comedy Carnival’s first show was in June 2004 when the comedy club was a monthly showcase of antipodean stand up comedy. That year, the club featured Adam Hills, Rhys Darby, Jim Jeffries, Sarah Kendall, Brendhan Lovegrove and Jarred Christmas.

In April 2005, the club hosted Flight of the Conchords in one of their few live appearances in London. Later that year, the club’s roster was expanded to include broader international comedy talent and featured Reginald D Hunter, Russell Brand, Sean Meo, Kitty Flanagan, Angelo Tsarouchas, and Julia Morris.

By 2007, demand for the shows saw the comedy club go weekly. That year the club hosted comedy shows featuring key emerging British comics such as Michael McIntyre, Rhod Gilbert, Russell Kane, Mark Watson, John Bishop, Steve Williams and Andrew Maxwell.

Today, you can see the stars of tomorrow performing at the comedy club. Recent performers include Milton Jones, Jack Whitehall, Doc Brown, Kevin Bridges, Sarah Millican, Micky Flanagan, Tom Stade, Glenn Wool, Jason Rouse, Paul Tonkinson, Will Smith, Andi Osho and Alun Cochrane.
